Who we are…
•A national independent charity, IfC, promotes democracy, citizenship and skills for life.
|
|
|
Schools Question Time Challenge
•In partnership with the BBC, BT and
the Times Educational Supplement, this campaign enables young
people to host their own Question Time events
•Students from the winning schools work with David Dimbleby and the BBC on an actual Question Time programme
•A ‘for real’ project taking education outside the classroom
|
|
What we do…
•From research to practical projects,
we help bridge the skills and participation gap encouraging people to
play a part in politics and society.
|
|
21st Century Citizenship Skills as “Skills for Life“
•Citizenship
education bridges the skills gap. It aims to empower young people – all
people - with skills of enquiry, analysis, understanding, opinion
forming, decision-making problem solving, communication and team
working.
•Skills empower people – citizenship skills
give the confidence and the knowledge to play an active role in
politics, society, the workplace and the community.
|
|
|
Why it matters…
•Citizenship
is about understanding political processes and the institutions, laws,
rights and responsibilities of our democratic system so that we can
participate in the decisions that shape our future.
