DCA - The Future of Citizenship

The Department for Constitutional Affairs commissioned the independent research company Henley Centre Headlight Vision to create a better understanding of the future of citizenship. The Institute was the only independent Citizenship organisation on the Steering Group.

Democracy through Citizenship

The project was working in partnership with young people, schools, colleges and community groups to develop sustainable, relevant, and meaningful opportunities for all young people.

A vision of Europe

A Vision of Europe – Discussions on the Future of Europe was a five-month project that included a series of high-level discussions on broad European themes to help clarify the debate about Europe.

Europe & its Citizens: the Future

Europe and its Citizens - the Future was run by the Institute throughout 2001 and early 2002. The Institute and its partners argued that, as citizens of Europe, we are exposed to issues that increasingly impact on our lives, and yet there is little opportunity for informed discussion.

Get the vote out!

June 2004 saw a number of crucial elections to the European Parliament, to the GLA, for the Mayor of London and a number of local elections all across the UK. Get the Vote Out! was organised to address this issue and campaign to ensure turnout is increased in next year’s elections.

Speak out! on European citizenship

The Speak Out! campaign aimed to develop the notion of a diverse and inclusive European citizenship by bringing together students from across Europe discussion and debate. It aimed to provide a forum where young people can share their views and opinions on issues that matter to them.
